Some stories from the annals of history have waited far too long to be told. When we first published the piece titled “Indian Gorkhas’ Contribution Beyond the Military: What History Forgot to Document” on indiangorkha.com, it wasn’t just another article—it was a quiet movement to highlight years of historical stereotyping. What followed next was something we didn’t quite expect, just yet.
On April 15, 2025, The Sikkim Express, one of Sikkim’s oldest and most respected English newspaper picked up our article and gave it the space it deserved.

Seeing our piece featured in their pages was surreal. Not because we sought validation—but because, for the first time, the larger public was able to engage with the many forgotten roles that Indian Gorkhas have played in shaping this nation—outside the uniform, beyond the battlefield. It has been roughly 2 months that our website went live, and receiving this support is something that matters so much to us.
For us, this isn’t just a media feature. It is a sign that the silence is breaking. That people care. That somewhere, tucked between the lines of policy papers and textbooks, there’s space for our voices too—voices of communities that have contributed far more than what they’ve been credited for.
This moment is a small victory, yes—but it’s also a reminder. That writing has power. That the work we’re doing here at indiangorkha.com is not just for the archive—it’s for the present. And it’s only the beginning. Also, more articles upcoming. stay tuned!
